Associated Press legislative planning session set for Nov. 2

The Associated Press will hold its annual legislative planning session on Wednesday, Nov. 2, on the 22nd floor of the Florida Capitol. The event is tentatively scheduled to run from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Gov. Rick Scott, Senate President Mike Haridopolos, House Speaker Dean Cannon, Senate Democratic Leader Nan Rich, House Democratic Leader Ron Saunders will attend. Also invited to speak are Republican presidential and Senate candidates. Coffee and bagels will be served in the morning, and lunch and refreshments will be provided.

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Doubletree Hotel on Adams Street in downtown Tallahassee for the nights of Nov. 1-2 at a group rate of $99 per night, including parking. To reserve, call toll-free 1-800-222-8733 and ask for The Associated Press group rate. The rate will be held until Oct. 14.

In addition, the Florida House plans a policy briefing from 8 a.m. to noon on Nov. 3. Staff members and representatives would be available to discuss the budget, Medicaid and others issues facing the Legislature in 2012.
